West Oakland's Community Foods Market launched a "Save Our Store" campaign asking for support from the community. In efforts to keep their doors open, the store's goal is to bring in one hundred more shoppers every day for the next 30 days.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle:
"Community Foods saw an initial bump in sales at the start of the pandemic as people stockpiled pantry goods, but business dropped to pre-pandemic levels by the end of last May. After Thanksgiving, traffic plunged by 28%. Customers’ average spending fell by 30%."
