United Airlines is going to send layoff notices to about half of its United States staff which includes about 36,000 employees.
Furloughs starting after October 1st would include:
- 15,000 flight attendants
- 11,000 customer service and gate agents
- 5,500 maintenance workers
- 2,250 pilots
