Bay Area Schools Offering FREE School Lunches

Schools all over the Bay Area have closed and are planning to stay closed through spring break. Some students and families depend on the free or reduced price lunch. In an effort to keep students fed during these times, schools in certain districts are staying open for kids to pick up meals.

If you need breakfast or lunch for the kids in your family, check with your local school district to see if lunch service will be available.

The following school districts have posted online with locations for FREE bagged lunches:

South Bay

San Jose Unified School District will be giving FREE breakfast and/or lunch for ANYONE under 18 years old.

  • Monday - Friday, until schools are back in session
  • 9am - 11am

Peninsula

Redwood City School District will have 3 locations open. Children MUST BE PRESENT to pick up the lunch.

  • Monday - Friday
  • 10am - 12 pm

You can pick up the lunch at

  • Henry Ford Elementary School
  • Garfield Community School
  • Hoover Community School

East Palo Alto Ravenswood City School District will be doing drive through pick up for meals in parking lot or bus lanes at the schools.

  • March 16 - March 26
  • 10am - 1pm

If you are in the Ravenswood School District area and are not able to pick up a meal, you can call the transportation department at 650-329-2800 extension 60172 for the option to have the meals delivered to your home.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday

Breakfast: 7:00 A.M. to 8:30 A.M.

Lunch: 2:45 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.

The delivery windows on Wednesday

Breakfast: 7:00 A.M. to 8:30 A.M.

Lunch: 12:45 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.

San Francisco

San Francisco Unified School District will provide FREE meals for children 18 and under. No identification or proof of school enrollment is required. The child must be present to pick up the lunch.

Lunch will be available daily from 9am - 10am.

East Bay

Hayward Unified School District students can get free breakfast AND lunch.

  • March 17 - March 27
  • 11am - 12pm

Oakland schools will have grab and go lunches available from 8am - 12 pm

Northwest/West Oakland:
