San Francisco has been the testing ground for autonomous self driving cars like Cruise or Wemo. Over the weekend, SFPD attempted to pull over a Cruise vehicle because the cards headlights were off. When the vehicle stopped, the officer approached the car and realized there wasn't a driver. The officer attempted to contact the company calling the phone number for emergency personnel, and even tried opening the door to turn on the lights himself before the Cruise vehicle is then seen suddenly taking off. The Cruise vehicle stopped just across the street after realizing the vehicle was indeed the subject of police interaction. Officers followed the vehicle after it took off. Cruise claims the vehicle didn't realize it had been pulled over and initially yielded to the police vehicle.
Cruise says the issue has been fixed. The autonomous vehicles only operate between 10p and 5am. You ready to hop in a Cruise?
