Finland skier Remi Lindholm is making headlines after he suffered a "frozen penis" while competing at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. Even though officials delayed the start time of the men's 50km race and even shortened it to 30km due to their fear that the athletes thin, skin-tight suits may catch frostbite . Unfortunately, that delay and shortening of the race didn't stop Lindholm from needing a heat pack for his groin at the end of the race!
Lindholm says he initially hadn't noticed that his man parts were going numb and becoming frozen until he began to thaw out. He says, "When the body parts started to warm up after the finish, the pain was unbearable."
Lindholm spent about 1 hour and 16 minutes traversing the course in howling, freezing winds. Ultimately the weather conditions lead to his penis becoming frozen for the second time in his life due to a cross-country skiing race, following a similar incident in Ruka, Finland last year.
Alexander Bolshunov from ROC took home the gold. Compatriot Ivan Yakimushkin clinched silver with Norway's Simen Hegstad Krueger went home with the bronze medal.
