Digital Underground's Shock G Dead At 57

Another heartbreaking loss for the hip hop community. Shock G, famous for his hit song "The Humpty Dance" with Digital Underground, and his work with 2Pac, has passed away at the age of 57.

The hip hop legend was found dead in his hotel room in Tampa, Florida according to his father Edward Racker.

The cause of death is still unclear yet there were no signs of foul play or trauma. An autopsy will be performed.

Shock was also famous for his collaborations with 2Pac as he's featured on 2Pac's 1993 song "I Get Around." Shock G was also one of the producers on Tupac's 1991 debut solo album, "2Pacalyse Now."

Shock G played a major part in introducing 2Pac to the music world. 2Pac's first published song was as a a member of Digital Underground appearing on the groups 1991 song and music video, "Same Song."

Shock G was born and raised on the East Coast, yet he moved to Oakland which is where he formed Digital Underground in the late 1980s with Chopmaster J and Kenneth Water.

In addition to Shock G's work with 2Pac, he also produced songs for Dr. Dre, Prince and KRS-One, and more.

Digital Underground's co-founder Chopmaster J took to Instagram to write:

34 years ago almost to the day we had a wild idea we can be a hip hop band and take on the world through it all the dream became a reality and the reality became a nightmare for some. And now he’s awaken from the fame long live shock G Aka Humpty Hump and Rest In Peace my Brotha Greg Jacobs!!!#digitalunderground😔
