The death of Casey Goodson Jr. -- who was shot to death by an Ohio sheriff's deputy while standing on his grandmother's front porch -- has been ruled a homicide.
The determination was announced Wednesday by the Franklin County Coroner's Officer, which also found the 23-year-old died of "multiple gunshot wounds to the torso."
The shooting happened on December 4th as a U.S. Marshals Service task force was searching the Columbus neighbor for a suspect.
A deputy who was working with the task force "reported witnessing a man with a gun" and opened fire on Goodson following a "verbal exchange," according to the Columbus Police Department.
Although a gun was found on Goodson's body, authorities determined he was "not the person being sought."
