Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit by Multiple Vehicles on Oakland Highway

One person was killed last night in Oakland after reportedly being run over by multiple vehicles along westbound Interstate Highway 580 near Grand Avenue late Sunday evening, the California Highway Patrol said. A driver reported to the CHP that a person suddenly appeared in front of a car and flew several feet into the air. According to the CHP, the driver told officers she believed she did not hit the person, but several other vehicles did. When officers arrived on the scene, the man was pronounced dead after succumbing to his injuries. The westbound portion of the 580 freeway was shut down from 11p until the SigAlert was canceled, and all westbound lanes on I-580 were opened at 2:21 a.m. Monday, the CHP said.
