While promoting his forthcoming film “Emancipation,” Will Smith opened up to Trevor Noah about slapping fellow comedian and actor, Chris Rock at the Oscars. Will Smith called it “a horrific night” and said he “lost it” when he put his hands on Chris Rock. Smith told Noah, “I was going through something that night. Not that that justifies my behavior at all,” & "hurt people hurt people." He went on to explain how as a child he watched his mother and father fight, “It was the little boy that watched his father beat up his mother, you know. All of that just bubbled up in that moment.” Ultimately wanting everyone to know that who he was in that moment is not who he is a person or who he wants to be.
