In a recent feature with Clash music, Chad Hugo of The Neptunes revealed that the duo has been collaborating with some music industry heavy weights. While Hugo's name may not ring a bell, his partner's name, Pharrell Wiliams, will ring a few.
Together, the two musicians are The Neptunes who are responsible for some of pop music's biggest hits. With a production discography featuring tracks like "Rock Your Body" by Justin Timberlake, "I'm a Slave 4 U" by Britney Spears, "Hot In Herre" by Nelly, and so many more, it's safe to say that the pair have played a large role in shaping the trajectory of popular music.
The two have spent the last few years working on separate projects but based on Hugo's comments in his interview with Clash, the Neptunes have joined forces once again and are hard at work with some of today's biggest artists.
At first, Lil Nas X organically comes up in their conversation and Hugo shares that they are currently working on something for the singer. That prompts the interviewer to ask who else he's been working with.
"I’m focussing on The Neptunes stuff, getting back on The Neptunes grind...We just did some work with Miley Cyrus, Jay-Z, Blink 182, Lil Uzi Vert, Brandy, Ray-J, Snoh Alegra, G-Eazy…"
Hugo later went on to say that they had recorded "a couple of things" with Kaytranda and when Pharrell found out Dua Lipa was working in the same studio, they recorded a few tracks together that are still being worked on.
Hugo couldn't give too much away during the interview but hopefully we'll start hearing that Neptunes sound on the radio soon. You can read the full interview here.
