Oprah Winfrey has not forgotten about the lives lost and devastation left behind in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria in September 2017.

The entertainment mogul is donating $2 million to help the small island rebuild. $1 million will go to support the long-term needs of survivors and $1 million will go to culture and arts programs. Winfrey says she was inspired by the work and generosity of musical theater creator Lin-Manuel Miranda who took Hamilton to Puerto to raise funds.
