Jay-Z is demanding African-American arbitrators in the dispute over his Roc Nation logo. Iconix Brand says they paid $204 million for the merchandising rights of the logo when the logo got put on a bunch of MLB gear without their permission, they had a problem.
Jay is willing to argue the case in arbitration but wants to have black representation in order to ensure that he gets a fair deal, but the problem is that the list of 200 arbitrators that Jay received where all white. Jay then received a list of six African-American arbitrators, but one was a lawyer that is working with the firm representing Iconix Brand.
Jay and his lawyer, Alex Spiro have asked for a restraining order in the case in order to allow them more time to check out the other 5 arbitrators to see if there are any conflicts.
