Rihanna has given her seal of approval to the students of Howard University who used her song “B**ch Better Have Money” as their rallying cry while protesting the $1 million that was taken by financial aid workers.
The students protested by sleeping in the university’s administration buildings and in addition to singing Rihanna’s song, they demanded pizza and danced. Howard’s student activist group, Student Power HU reported that the university shut off the air conditioning in an effort to make students leave the buildings. Rihanna showed her support by retweeting the clip of the students singing with the strong arm and hands up emojis.
In addition to the resignation of University president Wayne A.I. Frederick, Student Power HU is demanding an end to unsubstantiated tuition increases and a “grievance system to hold faculty and administrators accountable in their language and actions toward students with marginalized identities.”
