Lil Wayne is warning everyone — including Kendrick Lamar — not to wake up a sleeping giant after K.Dot mentioned him on his new album.
Shortly after Lamar dropped his surprise LP GNX on Friday, November 22, Weezy took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to get some thoughts off his chest. The veteran MC didn't mention Kendrick by name, but fans believe he was reacting to the Compton rapper's lyrics about him on "wacced out murals."
"Man wtf I do?!" Wayne wrote in his post. "I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head."
"Let’s not take kindness for weakness," he continued. "Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love."
On the intro to Lamar's GNX album, Kendrick recalls how much he used to respect Lil Wayne and bump his music. The duo even teamed up on "Mona Lisa" for Weezy's 2018 album Tha Carter V. However, Lamar acknowledges that their bond might have turned sour after the NFL and Roc Nation chose him to headline the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans over the Hollygrove native. Wayne himself even said their decision "hurt" him.
"Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud/Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down," K.Dot spits.
In the same verse, Lamar also called out Snoop Dogg for posting Drake's "Taylor Made Freestyle" during the height of their publicized battle. Dot was shocked when he saw Snoop's post about the AI-generated track. However, he blamed it on the edibles and ultimately decided to let it go. Snoop reacted to the lyrics and confirmed what Lamar was thinking at the time. See Snoop's reaction to the song below.
