Mosquitoes in Contra Costa County, as well as Sunnyvale, Santa Clara and San Jose, have tested positive for West Nile Virus. Apparently, seeing an increase in positive mosquitoes in the Summer is a normal thing.
According to NBC Bay Area, insecticides will begin spraying in the South Bay on Thursday night as the following zip codes: 95054, 94089, 95002. Spraying has reportedly been conducted regularly since 2003 and "poses only minimal risk" to people and pets.
