Waymo is looking for San Francisco residents to become "trusted testers" for the company's self-driving vehicles. If successful, San Francisco will be the 2nd market utilizing their cars.
According to KRON4, "during the testing phase, there is an autonomous specialist in the vehicle — but the person’s hands are not on the steering wheel."
Interested riders may apply to join the program on the Waymo One app.
