It was a tough first day back at this elementary school in Amador County.
A teacher suffered bruising and lacerations on his face after stepping in when a parent was getting into a verbal altercation with the principal. The parent was reportedly upset with the school's mask policy and took it upon himself to voice his frustrations with the staff. The teacher intervened and the altercation escalated into a physical fight.
According to NBC News:
In a letter to families, Amador County Unified School District Superintendent Torie Gibson wrote: "As the first day of school comes and goes, there are always hiccups along the way, especially during this trying time."
