Oakland Fire Department To Receive $825K Grant From FEMA To Purchase A Boat

The Oakland Fire Department was awarded an $825,000 port security grant from FEMA. This money is reportedly going towards a new fireboat that will be housed at Jack London Square.

According to KRON4:

Michael Hunt, a department spokesperson, said the new fireboat will be used in conjunction with the department’s existing water rescue boat, Marine 1, and will be designed and equipped to meet the modern-day challenges associated with protecting the city’s estuary and waterfront.

The previous fireboat was decommissioned in 2003. More information here.
