Oakland Resilient Families will provide six hundred families with a $500 monthly payment for at least 18 months.
According to The Mercury News:
"Under the pilot, families who are Black, Indigenous or people of color and have at least one child under the age of 18 and an income at or below 50% of the area median income — about $59,000 per year for a family of three — can apply to be one of the recipients of the monthly $500. About half of the spots will be reserved for families earning below 138% of the federal poverty level, or about $30,000 per year for a family of three."
The program is 100% funded and will not be coming from tax payer money. So far, $6.7 million has been raised for the pilot.
Eligible families will be able to apply later this Spring.
