The Academy Is Making Changes To Movies Qualifying For This Years Oscars

This year the Oscar's will be changing their rules due to COVID-19. The requirement that a film needs a seven-day run in a commercial theater in Los Angeles County will not be applied. The new requirement change states the film must have already had a planned theatrical release and must be made available on the Academy Screening Room within 60 days of its release.

The new rule will make streaming service movies ineligible. Another new rule will make all Academy members vote on the preliminary round for international feature film. The Oscars will be broadcasted on February 21, 2021.
