Body Cam Footage Shows Orlando Cop Arresting 6-Year-Old Girl At School

Recently released body cam footage shows Orlando police officer, Dennis Turner traumatizing a 6-year-old girl in an intense arrest at Lucious and Emma Nixon Academy.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, first grader Kaia Rolle had a tantrum earlier in the day and had kicked and punched three different school employees. This incident led to her arrest on a charge of misdemeanor battery. But by the time the police showed up, Kaia was calmly sitting and listening to another school employee.

The body cam footage shows the 6-year-old sobbing and crying, "I don't wanna go in a police car." The footage also features Officer Turner bragging about how he's arrested 6,000 people and the youngest was a 7-year-old boy stealing.

After detaining, cuffing, and arresting her, Turner took her to the Juvenile Assessment Center where she had her fingerprints and mugshot taken.

Although Turner was fired by the Orlando Police Department for violating agency policy on arresting children younger than 12, no legal action was taken since Florida does not have a minimum age for arrest.

Kaia's grandmother, Meralyn Kirkland is hoping that the released body cam footage will prompt people to support the proposal to change that law.
