If you are a smoke detector, you have one job, detect smoke. If you can't do it, you're useless. With that in mind, if you own a Kidde smoke detector, you should inspect it today because the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall.
Models PI2010 and PI9010 have been recalled due to a manufacturing defect that inhibits their ability to smell smoke. All models were sold between September 2016 and January 2018 in both the U.S. and Canada.
A Kidde representative said that affected smoke alarms will be replaced with different models as quickly as possible.
