Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf Tests Positive for COVID-19

Mayor Libby Schaaf has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. According to NBC Bay Area, the Oakland official has been experiencing symptoms, self quarantining and will "follow CDC guidelines before returning to public events."


If you test positive for COVID-19, the CDC guidelines (as of August 2022) are as follows:

  • Isolate and stay at home for at least 5 days.
    • Use a separate bathroom from others
    • Improve ventilation at home, if possible
    • Do not share personal items
  • Wear a high-quality mask (N95 preferred) if you must be around others. Avoid places where you cannot wear a mask.
  • Do not travel
