The parents of former NFL QB Dwayne Haskins won’t be present for their sons funeral service on Friday. The family released a statement saying they have not met their sons wife, thus they did not want the funeral to be the first place they meet. They intend to hold two separate services for their son.

“We have never met or spoken to the wife, and we didn’t want our son’s funeral service to be the place we met her for the first time,” said Dwayne Sr. and Tamara Haskins in a statement to USA TODAY Sports.

Haskins' wife contacted 911 to report that he was on the interstate searching for gas, according to 911 recordings. She was concerned because she hadn't heard from him in a long time.

In Haskins' honor, two tributes are being planned: one on Saturday in Rockaway Township, New Jersey, and another on Sunday at Haskins' high school, Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland.

In March 2021, Kalabrya and Dwayne Haskins married. According to reports, Kalabrya Haskins was arrested in Las Vegas in July and charged with felony battery and domestic violence after Dwayne Haskins suffered a split upper lip and a lost tooth as a result of an argument.

The case was dismissed in January 2022.

Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate Haskins' death.
