CDC have linked cases of listeria in Connecticut, New York, Virginia, and Maryland to various Latinx cheese, including queso fresco, queso blanco, and queso panela.
Listeria is an infection that can cause fever, muscle aches, and sometimes diarrhea. It is treated with antibiotics.
