Alligator Drags South Carolina Woman Into Pond After She Tried Touching it

South Carolina woman, Cynthia Covert, was killed after being dragged underwater by an alligator. The women was visiting her friends home, Barbara Howell, on Kiawah Island to get her nails done. They were doing nails on the porch when Cynthia Covert saw an alligator in the pond behind the house.

Her friend Barbara Howell had warned her to get away from the alligator. It had recently grabbed a deer from the same spot. The friend did not listen and wanted to touch the alligator. That's when the alligator grabbed the lady by the foot and dragged her into the pond. Howell's husband went into the pond with a shovel to try and save the woman but the gator eventually dragged her underwater. Authorities arrived and found the victims body after 10-15 minutes. The cause of death was drowning and ruled accidental. The alligator was eventually shot dead.
