Bay Area Bank Robber Arrested As Wife Gives Birth; Bomb Threat Sparked!

A serial bank robbery suspect from Oakland was arrested by the FBI at a Bay Area hospital just after his wife gave birth!

Early Tuesday morning the FBI raided Duane Makela's home on Stockbridge drive in the Oakland Hills and the Alameda County Sheriff's bomb squad was called out after agents found a suspicious device inside the home.

Deputies determined it was a "hoax device," something made to look like a bomb but that was not a functioning explosive device.

Makela lived in the house with his parents, his wife and his daughter and neighbors told reporters at ABC 7 that they were "relieved" that he was arrested and that he was "a menace" who scared a lot of them.

One neighbor said that Makela acted erratically and that Child Protective Services and police had been called several times to the house.
