Thanks to their frequent social media posts, rapper NLE Choppa and Marissa DaNae's romance was a spectacle throughout the duration of its existence. It appears that the couple is no longer together at this time. Choppa seems at peace with the breakup, while Marissa is obviously struggling much more.
She recorded an emotional Instagram live stream in reaction after he tweeted about their separation. She can be seen sobbing and detailing the agony of her heartbreak in the video. Choppa then made a video titled "Clearing the Air" on YouTube to talk a little more about the breakup. Here's what went down.
NLE Choppa Tweeted on September 12, 2022 that he was single.
He appears confident in his choice to end the relationship, citing his spiritual struggles and personal progress as factors in his decision. Marissa's reaction wasn't as calm. On September 15th, 2022 Marissa went on Instagram LIVE detailing how she is handling the break up, what it's been like for her coping, and stated she's seeing a therapist, cannot eat or sleep. She said:
"Honestly, how hard it is for me to get up and face reality because this was not my reality a week ago. I can’t tell y’all how hard it is because I love so hard and I love harder and harder and harder every time, and this one hurts the most because I really thought I was going to marry this man."
Tweets from NLE Choppa appear to show he is not happy with Marissa airing out her feelings to the public. After seeing her emotional Live, NLE Choppa posted a video to his Youtube channel titled "Clearing The Air." In the video, NLE Choppa says, "To begin, I take full blame, full accountability, full responsibility for all my actions." He addressed Marissa saying their relationship was "the best relationship" he's ever had. He complimented her saying "sweetest, kindest person," and stated he was not making this video to bash her.
In the 37-minute-long video, he stated one key factor for him feeling he needed to leave her was because he "didn't feel free" to live his life. He stated Marissa knew his views on Polygamous relationships and initially, she agreed. He stated he told her "I can't tell you your the only person I'm going to have sex with. You won't be the only partner. I can't just be loyal to you." He stated she said she appreciated his honesty and she thinks she "could work with that." He went on to say Marissa was big on marriage so he told her "I don't see myself having only one wife. I believe in Polygamy, so you may not be the only one person I marry." NLE Choppa explains that Marissa said she was "willing to give up all these things that she felt she was going to get from life. She was with me in a sense of hope and I grew out of it. She was willing to do all these things but did SHE want to do it. Her mind and her heart wanted in it. But her soul, it's not what her soul wanted. THAT'S why I left.... It's like we were in two different worlds. It's like every day I had to bring her back into mine."
