Millions of people across California mailed in ballots and took to the polls today to vote yes or no on recalling current governor and former San Francisco Mayor, Gavin Newsom. Voters faced the yes or no question, then more than 40 names of people to potentially replace Newsom if voters had voted yes.
Now, it has been confirmed that Gavin Newsom will remain Governor of California as voters overwhelmingly voted No to the recall NBC, ABC and AP project.
Newsom responded to the news saying "Tonight, I'm humbled, grateful, but resolved in the spirit of my political hero, Robert Kennedy, to make more gentle the life of this world."
He ends: "Thank you for rejecting this recall."
