This is scary! $100 million dollars has been invested to try and stop the sinking of the infamous Millennium Tower in San Francisco. Work to stop the building from sinking further, by embedding the building into the bedrock below using what's called a pile installation, has apparently caused the building to sink further, and faster! Since work started in May, the building sunk a full inch further, making it a 5 inch lean on top! The new discovery has engineers questioning if it's truly understood why the building is actually sinking.
Before the engineers began working, the building had sunk 3 inches. All work on the building has stopped for at least two weeks until engineers can confirm what is causing the increased sinking.
