Mayor London Breed has expanded COVID-19 resources for the San Francisco Latinx community. She has started La Familia Unida Contra COVID-19 (Families United Against COVID-19) campaign that will include programs to support the Latinx community with food, housing, finance, and mental health services. Latinos make up 50% of the COVID-19 cases in San Francisco.
A security investment of $100,000 will be given to the Latino Task Force Resource Hub to help with food security.
Our latino community has been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, which is why we're continuing to expand the resources available to our latino residents, whether that's testing, food access, financial support, or mental health treatment.
Three funds will help the Latinx community include:
- The Right to Recover Fund: Helps provide wage replacement to people recovering from COVID-19, if they qualify. The two-week wage replacement will give up to $1,285. It will help up to 1,500 San Franciscans who test positive for COVID-19 regardless of their immigration status.
- Family Relief Fund*: This fund will offer monthly financial relief of $500 to $1,000 for families that do not qualify for local, state, or federal assistance such as cash or food aid, sick time (due to hours reduction or job loss), and unemployment. The program prioritizes 1) families with a parent or guardian that is incarcerated or recently deceased, 2) individuals without social security, and 3) undocumented residents.
- Immigrant Workers Fund: Will help Immigrant workers who are not eligible for state and federal programs who have been impacted by COVID-19. If eligible you will receive one payment of $200 for supportive services and one payment of $200 for food security.
