Two people complained to an Arizona school district after seeing a DJ wear black face at a school auction. However, the Arizona Daily Independent reports that the DJ was not wearing black face and that he was actually black.
The accusers reportedly specialize in diversity, equity and inclusion, and were concerned after seeing photos of the DJ at the school event. After finding out that the DJ was not wearing black face, one accuser apologized, saying that they should have reached out before making the assumption, according to the NY Post.
The other accuser was not so quick to apologize. "It seems at the very least he is in darker make-up... or I am completely mistaken and it’s the lighting of the patio,” he said.
The DJ, Kim Koko Hunter, responded to the incident. He asked, “Was I not Black enough? How black do I got to be for people to know that I’m an actual Black person?"
