44 year old Cyril Derreumaux is headed out on his 70 day journey from SF to Hawaii on a KAYAK!!! Valentine, which is what he named his kayak are taking the trek on alone for over 2k miles of open ocean water!!
He said he is not a pro but took 3 years to prepare for this long journey that he has already done once before with a team. He recognizes that there are a lot of dangers and challenges that he will face alone in the open ocean for over 2 months but that hardest part for this "extrovert" is being alone!! "I love people" so being alone with his thoughts he thinks will be his biggest hurdle. He jokes that he will probably have to have some conversations with himself.
Cyril says this is dream and he is happy to be taking off hoping to see a crowd greet him on the other side!
