Howard Kirby, a Michigan man who loves to shop at thrift stores, returned over $43,000 that he found inside a couch he bought! Kirby got the couch from a Habitat For Humanity store, and after a few weeks noticed it was uncomfortable. His daughter opened it up and found a total of $43,170 inside the ottoman!
Kirby said he could have used the money, but that he had to return it for moral reasons. Kirby stated, “I always thought, 'What would I do if that ever happened?' Now I know, and it makes me feel good.”
The store tracked down the couch's owner that got it from her grandfather who died last year. What a great story!
Since he legally didn't have to return it...would you have kept the money or given it back too?
