Oakland city council members are working to approve an ordinance that will help laid off employees get first dibs on jobs. This will allow employees who work in hospitality, restaurant, stadium, and travel-related industries will be able to get jobs from their former employer when it reopens.
According to a council member, employers must offer workers their job back based on seniority. They will also have ten days to decide whether they want to go back to work to the employer that laid them off.
