A powerful message was painted on Macdonald Avenue in Richmond. The message says 'Reparations Now #TheBlackBayArea'. Artist Nakari Swon spoke with local news stations letting people know his meaning of the art,
My form of reparations, what I would be happy for is to be accepted nationwide as for who I am and what I do just as my peers do who don’t share the same ethnic color as I do, the same opportunities, the same business support.
The reason for the painting on Macdonald Avenue is because of a moment in history. Klansmen marched on that street against Black existence in Richmond.
