Gross! Officials in Baton Rouge, Louisiana are warning people of black flies. The flies apparently try to crawl into peoples ears, nose, and eyes. Spraying insecticide does not work on these flies known as 'buffalo gnats' or 'turkey gnats'.
They also warn that the female flies will bite people during the morning hours. The bites can cause different reactions from small puncture wounds to swelling the size of a golf ball. If bitten, they can also cause headache, nausea, fever and swollen lymph nodes in the neck.
