Netflix released the trailer for their new documentary on Cyntoia Brown. For those who aren't familiar with her story, she was released from prison in 2019 after serving 15 years for aggravated robbery and first-degree murder of Johnny Allen. The man solicited her for sex when she was 16 years old, it is believed she shot him out of self defense.
Cyntoia Brown went to instagram after seeing the trailer for Murder To Mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story saying,
While I was still incarcerated, a producer who has old footage of me made a deal with Netflix for an UNAUTHORIZED documentary, set to be released soon.
This documentary was made without her knowledge. We don't know how Netflix will tell the story yet, but Cyntoia Brown hopes this film "highlights things wrong in our justice system."
Will Netflix cut her a check? The documentary drops on April 29.
