Many people are ordering food for take-out to support local businesses and simply because they're tired of eating at home. During the coronavirus, people are worried if it's still ok to order out.
CDC says it is still ok to order food for takeout. Most of the risk comes from human interaction and not from food. They do recommend to keep a distance from people if you pick up. If you order delivery they recommend they drop the food off at your doorstep.
Even though they say the virus lives on surfaces, there are no confirmed cases that anyone has gotten the virus from touching a surface. CDC does recommend that the packages the food comes in be thrown away immediately after getting your food and to wash your hands for 20 seconds after.
