LeBron James is now officially a children's book author.
In an Instagram post, LeBron revealed that his debut book I Promise will hit shelves on August 11th, 2020. The book is illustrated by New York Times Bestselling illustrator Nina Mata. In the post, LeBron gave a special shout out to the I Promise school, a public elementary school the basketball star opened in his hometown of Akron, Ohio in 2018, which was the inspiration for the story.
"Books have the ability to teach, inspire, and bring people together," said LeBron in a statement obtained by Entertainment Weekly. "That's why these books, and the opportunity to get children and parents reading together, mean so much to me. Most importantly, we wanted to make sure these stories are ones that every single kid can see themselves in. I Promise is powerful in that way and I can't wait for people to read it."
