BART is Putting 12 New Cops on Trains to Monitor Riders

BART has put a new team of 12 cops on trains to monitor riders & platforms.

BART police Chief Ed Alvarez assigned 12 officers to ride trains and walk platforms.

BART crime stats show crime was up 11% last year & violent crime up 4% compared to 2018.

The new cops will work in pairs and mostly on nights and weekends.

Hopefully they'll do more than arrest people just for eating sandwiches 😏 We all should remember back in November when a man was arrested for eating a breakfast sandwich on a BART platform in Pleasant Hill.
