Well, well. well! It looks like Netflix & Mo'Nique have found common ground and officially announced her new comedy special, ‘My Name Is Mo’Nique.’ The special is directed by L. Frazier and debuts on Netflix on April 4.
Mo'Nique says this special is "personal" and will allow watchers to understand "why I swing like I swing." Fans are excited to see the special after numerous attendees to her live stand up shows have excitedly shared how incredibly funny she is. 50 Cent was so impressed he shared on Instagram that he wanted Mo'Nique to be apart of his Starz BMF series.
The special comes after Mo'nique filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against Netflix for offering her $500,000 for a comedy special in 2018. The figure was evidence, Mo'Nique says, of gender and racial discrimination when compared to that of male or white counterparts like Dave Chappelle ($20 million), Chris Rock ($20 million), and Amy Schumer (who negotiated up from $11 million.)
“What’s going down? Fuck what they said. I told you Netflix would come around,” Mo'Nique says in her promotional video and she is absolutely correct! Mark your calendars for the release on April 4th!
