When providing their recap of the 2023 Grammy Awards last night, BBC News accidentally mistook Viola Davis for Beyonce, which they were compelled to issue an apology to their viewers. The broadcaster shocked its British viewers when it mentioned Beyoncé breaking records after becoming the most-awarded artist in Grammys history with a total of 32 wins by utilizing Davis' photograph from her Golden Globes appearance.
Making things worse, the headline read “Beyonce’s big night,’ alongside a photo of Davis.
Although BBC News issued an apology, Twitter users expressed mixed opinions over whether Davis could genuinely be mistaken for Beyonce, while others appreciated the apology for acknowledging what had to have been a difficult day for whoever was in charge of the broadcaster's photographs that evening.
