It looks like Atlanta rapper could be out of jail within the next few hours. Gunna plead guilty today to a racketeering conspiracy charge in the RICO case which also landed friend and rapper Young Thug in jail.
Gunna's negotiated plea deal, known as an Alford plea, in which Gunna plead guilty to one charge because it was in his best interest yet still maintains he is innocent on the same charge.
The plea deal resulted in Gunna being sentenced to five years with one served in prison. The one-year sentence was commuted to time served! Gunna's four-year balance was suspended but subject to special conditions including 500 hours of community service.
After news of the sentence Gunna released a statement, saying:
“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,”
To clairfy, Gunna will have to testify as part of his plea deal if he is called to the stand. He can though claim the Fifth Amendment if called to the stand.
