A video of a group gifting controversial "White Lives Matter" shirts from Kanye West to individuals living on Skid Row was shared online by a person who is known to be associated with Ye.
"Courtesy of Kanye West," someone could be heard yelling in the video.
"They dropped off a big box here and told everybody to come here to pick them up," said a resident. "I was like this is not a good spot. I don't think you should bring them here."
The shirts made their debut at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month. Pope John Paul II is depicted on the front of the shirt, while the controversial phrase is printed on the back.
The term "White Lives Matter" has been labeled hate speech by the Anti-Defamation League. Many people living on Skid Row were confused why anyone would purposely put them in the middle of the controversy. Those who received the shirts were confused about the meaning, and didn't understand the intention.
