Two fathers were charged with attempted murder after they exchanged gunfire during a road rage incident that left both of their daughters shot.
Around 6 p.m. on Saturday, the police received calls about guns being fired. According to reports, Frank Allison, 43, was in a gray Nissan Murano, and William Hale, 35, was in a black Dodge Ram. Reports claim the two repeatedly slammed on their brakes and cut each other off in traffic.
At a press conference last week, Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper claimed someone in the sedan "flicked off" the truck when a passenger in Hale's truck ordered the sedan pull over.
According to Leeper, someone in the truck threw a water bottle at the sedan as retaliation, which Allison responded by firing a shot at the vehicle and sped off. When Hale discovered that his daughter had been wounded, he pulled out his rifle and fired several shots at Allison's automobile, hitting his daughter. The pursuit came to an end when the two drivers spotted a police car and stopped.
The sheriff's office reported that Hale's 5-year-old daughter was shot in the leg and Allison's 14-year-old daughter experienced a collapsed lung after being struck in the back. At a press conference, Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper commented, "There could have been two dead kids because of two stupid grown men."
