Two of the candidates for Oakland mayor were arrested on gun-related charges in separate occasions last year.
According to The Oaklandside, Seneca Scott was arrested in October of last year and was charged with a misdemeanor after pulling a gun on two individuals.
According to Scott, they were attempting to steal a water heater from a community garden he manages.
Scott claimed he withheld information about the event from Oakland police because the reports, quote, "go nowhere."
Additionally, according to The Oaklandside, Peter Liu, a mayoral candidate, was detained in San Leandro in January 2021 after contacting the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.
He said that some squatters broke into one of his buildings, and that he held them at gunpoint until the sheriff's department arrived.
