Several Injured After Shootout at San Leandro Marijuana Grow

After a shootout early on Sunday morning at an indoor marijuana dispensary in San Leandro, officials said that at least three people had been shot and two of them were in critical condition.

According to San Leandro police, they responded to a call about a burglary that was taking place in the 2000 block of Adams Avenue at around 4:20 a.m.

When the police came, they discovered that there had been a shootout between burglary suspects and those caring for the indoors marijuana cultivation.

A security guard for the location was shot, although he is listed in stable condition, according to authorities. As a result of multiple gunshot wounds, a site manager is currently listed in critical condition.

One burglary suspect was also shot, according to the police, and was in critical condition

A U-Haul van was seen fleeing the area ignoring authorities, officers stated. As police chased the U-haul, the driver got out of the van and got into a silver Jeep.  Police apprehended another suspect while he was switching automobiles. The van was located and gathered as proof.

Officers continued to pursue the Jeep for a while more before it came to a stop and the two suspects took off running. Near 31st St. and Martin Luther King Way, a 20-minute foot pursuit came to an end with the suspects evading capture.

According to San Leandro Police, they will consult with city officials to ascertain whether the marijuana cultivation was legal.
