According to a new proposal by two Bay Area politicians, bars in San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles and several other California towns might stay open until 4 a.m. California legislators are proposing Senate Bill 930, a pilot program that would allow businesses in specified cities including San Francisco, Oakland, and LA, to remain open and serve drinks up to 4 a.m. The bill would require bars to apply for a license yet neighbors could object.
A similar bill was proposed in 2018 yet was denied by then Governor Jerry Brown. The new proposal may have some legs as bar owners are in support especially as they still struggle to recover from the pandemic.
