On Friday afternoon, a man stole a Califonia Highway Patrol Police vehicle, leading to a chase thru Fresno County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an officer was assisting in a crash near North and Temperance Avenues. One of the passengers in a vehicle involved in the incident leaped into the CHP unit and sped off while the officer was clearing the roadway.
The chase lasted for nearly five miles, with more units responding to the chase including air support. The stolen patrol car was never lost sight of, according to CHP.
The pursuit came to a halt around Peach Avenue and Highway 180. A man has been apprehended.
The chase resulted with no injuries or property damage.
The car thief is being investigated for a possible DUI. According to the CHP, the individual is facing multiple counts in connection with the event.
